A preliminary report in the crash of the Air India Flight 171 on June 12, 2025, killing 260 people, including 241 people on the plane, found that fuel to the engines had been cut shortly after take off.
According to the data from the trip registrar, each of the fuel control keys, which are usually used to switch or stop the engines on the ground, are transferred from running to the cutting of the pieces after a period of takeoff. This causes the two engines to lose.
This confused in the cockpit, with the sound of the sound that a pilot hunted asking the other about the reason for “cutting” – the other pilot replied that he did not do that.
“The plane achieved the maximum air speed registered for 180 IAS knots at about 08:08:42 UTC and then immediately, the fuel cutting keys for the 1st engine and 2 engine of running were transferred to one -cut one -by -ending with a time gap of 01 seconds,” which is a report from the report.
“The N1 and N2 engine started declining from their boot values as the fuel supply was cut to the engines.
“In a cockpit sound, one of the pilots hears the other asking why he cut it. The other pilot replied that he did not do it.”
The plane was appointed to travel from Ahmedabad to London, but it crashed shortly after the takeoff, as the pilots from 787-8 Dreamliner gave the Mayday signal before the plane collided with a building that was used as a residence for doctors in a nearby hospital.
There was only one survivor on the plane, carrying 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese citizens, one Canadian and 12 crew members. Five buildings were destroyed when the plane crashed into a populated residential area and nearly 30 people died on the ground.
The initial report does not give a conclusion on how to move the keys. “At this stage of the investigation, there are no recommendations for engine operators and Genx-1B Genx-1B,” said AAIB.
The debris was moved to a safe area near the airport. “Both engines were recovered from the location of the debris and the quarantine stone at a barn at the airport,” the report said. “Interest components have been identified for more exams and quarantine stone.”
The post -fuel supply was reduced to the engines before Air India’s failure, the initial report first appeared in the week of air cargo.
