Jettainer, a leading provider of unit load device (ULD) management services, is equipping its ULD fleet with Trackonomy’s next generation IoT tracking technology. The two companies have entered into a long-term strategic partnership to provide comprehensive, real-time visibility into the ULD supply chain with unprecedented accuracy and intelligence. This will result in reduced losses, increased efficiency and smarter global ULD operations.
One of the main challenges facing current tracking solutions is their reliance on fixed reader infrastructure at airports. This often creates blind spots that prevent true end-to-end visibility across the supply chain. Trackonomy’s devices take a hybrid approach: While LoRa and BLE readers continue to be installed in large and medium-sized sites, the cellular-enabled units also serve as mobile readers, using interconnect technology to create a dynamic, self-expanding network.
The resulting depth of data allows Jettainer to precisely determine where and how long each ULD has been on site, dramatically reducing search times and enabling faster recovery of misplaced equipment. It also opens up new business insights that support further optimization of ULD fleets and across the unit lifecycle.
“Traceability has become a crucial factor in air cargo operations to monitor and control supply chains and proactively respond to irregularities,” said Dr. Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer. “It is imperative for us to lead with reliable, forward-looking technology. While BLE and LoRa are the standards to date, the integration of cellular connectivity and network technology represents an important step forward. Together with Trackonomy, we are driving innovation in ULD tracking to provide greater transparency, efficiency and intelligence to our customers.”
Headquartered in Silicon Valley – the world’s leading ecosystem of innovative companies, startups, venture capitalists, and research institutions – Trackonomy is the ideal partner for this journey.
“Today our platform organizes more than 15 million shipments per day,” said Eric Volkerinck, CEO of Trackonomy. “The scale of growth we are seeing is astounding – based on signed contracts, our technology will soon power more than 200 million reusable transportation items, including nearly 20 percent of all high-speed transportation units worldwide. Behind the scenes, we are becoming the de facto standard for scalable, reliable, industrial digital transformation across logistics. Collaborating with forward-thinking partners like Jettainer is key to realizing this vision.”
This collaboration underscores Jettainer’s commitment to enhancing its digital capabilities and moving the company forward as a trusted, technology-enabled partner to airlines and cargo operators around the world.
