- CHAMP Cargosystems has appointed Gianluca Marcangelo as Vice President of Neo Program Engagement, leading the global transformation to its next-generation freight management platform, Cargospot neo.
- Marcangelo has over 25 years of experience in air freight and logistics, with a proven track record in digital innovation, community engagement and operational transformation across roles at Oman Air, Al Challenger Group and GSA Global.
- His industry leadership includes initiatives in achieving IATA CEIV certification, implementation of the eAWB programme, and infrastructure projects such as the development of the new charging station and the formation of a joint venture in Oman.
CHAMP Cargosystems has announced the appointment of Gianluca Marcangelo as Vice President of Neo Program Engagement. In this strategic role, Gianluca will lead customer engagement and drive the transition to CHAMP’s next generation freight management solution, “Cargospot neo.”
Gianluca has over 25 years of experience in air freight and logistics, with a strong background in digital innovation, operational transformation and industry collaboration. His journey began in 1998 with a US-based shipping company. In 2000, he joined GSA Global Group in Italy as Head of Sales and Operations for the Milan branch, where he managed more than 15 airlines and several global key accounts.
In 2015, Gianluca moved to Oman Air Head Office, where he worked as Director of Customer Service, before progressing to Director of Special Product Development and Digital Innovation. During his tenure, he pioneered community initiatives for IATA CEIV Pharma and Fresh certification and implemented the IATA eAWB programme. He also contributed to strategic projects with Oman Aviation Group, including the development of a new cargo terminal and a joint venture with SATS.
In 2021, Gianluca joined Challenge Group in Liège as Senior Director of Vertical Operations and Cargo Conversion, later becoming Head of Industry Relations and Marketing at the Group’s headquarters in Malta. His active participation in various IATA Working Groups and global industry forums, including the TIACA Executive Summit, IATA WCS Conference, CNS Conference and Cargo Facts EMEA, underscores his commitment to advancing industry standards and innovation.
As Vice President of Neo Program Engagement, Gianluca will lead CHAMP’s customer-focused strategy, guiding airlines through their digital transformation journey and ensuring the CHAMP community takes full advantage of the new features and latest technologies built into Cargospot neo and into the broader CHAMP digital portfolio.
