- BioNatur Plastics announced that its biodegradable and 100 percent recyclable anaerobic stretch film is now available to manufacturers and shipping operators in the United States at a price equal to traditional plastic films. This announcement, made at Air Cargo Americas, represents a major shift in the accessibility of sustainable packaging for the logistics and manufacturing sectors.
- The strategic modernization of the BioNatur production process now allows shippers to adopt biodegradable packaging with little or no increase in operating costs, while aligning with stringent international environmental compliance requirements, including EU Scope 2 and 3 emissions reporting and upcoming US disclosure rules.
- BioNatur’s rubber coating uses a 1% organic, food-safe additive that accelerates anaerobic biodegradation in landfill conditions, enabling bacteria to break down the polymer without creating microplastics or harmful residues.
BioNatur Plastic Chris Palladino, president and CEO of BioNatur Plastics, announced at Air Cargo Americas today that the 100 percent recyclable, biodegradable anaerobic stretch film is now available to U.S. manufacturers and freight operators at a price comparable to traditional plastic films.
The strategic change in BioNatur’s production process means that shippers and logistics providers can adopt biodegradable packaging with little or no impact on operating costs, while meeting current compliance requirements and future-proofing against tightening international environmental standards, including EU Scope 2 and 3 emissions reporting and upcoming US disclosure standards.
“By matching the cost of traditional rubber wrap, we make the sustainable choice the obvious choice,” said Chris Palladino, President and CEO of BioNatur Plastics.
“U.S. manufacturers and shipping operators exporting to the EU can protect their goods and reputations by switching to a film that performs the same, remains recyclable in the regular polyethylene recycling stream, but biodegrades in a fraction of the time.”
BioNatur stretch wrap biodegrades in an anaerobic environment, which includes most landfills.
Contains 1% of a special, food-safe organic additive that attracts anaerobic bacteria and allows them to digest the plastic polymer without leaving behind microplastic particles or harmful residue.
Earlier this year, BioNatur established a European manufacturing partnership, enabling local production at an equivalent price to conventional films and ensuring supply to operators in both regions.
