tAnsporting Live Animals by Air is one of the most complex and sensitive processes in the logistics industry. From home pets to sweat and strange species, each specialized currency requires specialized, compliance with strict regulations, and above all, a deep understanding of animal well -being.
For Qatar Airways shipments, live animal transportation is not related to the transfer of the shipment from point A to point B; It is related to ensuring that every animal receives the highest level of care and luxury.
“The animals are not just shipments. They are living creatures, and our responsibility is to ensure that they are treated with the care and attention they deserve,” said Mark Drush, chief officer in the airline.
Drusch detailed how Qatar Airways shipments topped the road in live transportation of live animals, the main challenges facing the industry, and how the airline invests in advanced infrastructure, digital solutions, and sustainability efforts to set new standards.
A global level facility
With the increased demand for live animal transport through multiple sectors – from traveling for luxury pets and equestrian sports to livestock shipments and preservation efforts – QATAR airlines shipment has taken proactive steps to enhance their capabilities.
A major part of this strategy was the launch of the center of modern animals in Doha, designed to lift the tape to deal with live animals in air cargo.
“Doha’s attachment is the game changed,” Druch stated.
“We have designed the highest animal care standards in mind. It provides control areas that are controlled by temperature, veterinary support, and spaces designated for different types, ensuring that animals suffer from minimal stress throughout the trip.”
The facility provides effective transit, which reduces the time the animals spend in an unfamiliar environment.
“There is a lot of tension for animals that come from long waiting times at airports, dealing with errors, or insufficient facilities,” explained. “We have worked to eliminate these factors as much as possible.”
Challenges in transporting live animals
While the demand for animal transport is growing, the challenges are also. Drush highlighted three main pain points in this industry: “One of the biggest obstacles we face is the lack of appropriate aircraft specifically to carry live animals.”
Many airlines have reduced after birth, which limits flying animal options.
“Not all aircraft are designed to carry live animals safely. Without the right fleet, it becomes difficult to maintain social care standards, especially for large animals such as horses or livestock.”
Qatar Airways shipping works closely with IATA, the European Commission, and the stakeholders in the industry to ensure compliance while maintaining safe and effective transportation services.
“The organizational scene is developing rapidly, especially in Europe, where new legislation can restore how living animals are transported by air,” Drush explained.
“We only follow the regulations – we are helping to form them,” he added. “Our goal is to lead the role model, while making sure that every organizational change improves animal care rather than creating unnecessary barriers in front of transportation.”
Ethical transportation
Environmental concerns and ethical considerations have become more important to discuss the transportation of live animals.
“Sustainability is crucial,” Druch stated. “We actively explore ways to reduce carbon emissions in our animal transport operations, whether by improving flight paths, investing in fuel -saving aircraft, or improving ground handling operations.”
The airline has also participated with UNIDEL for Wildlife, an organization committed to combating illegal wildlife trade.
“We are taking a firm position against any immoral transfer of living animals,” he said. “Our commitment is not only related to business – it is related to what is right.”
Tracking the means of transportation
Qatar Airways shipments expand their digital capabilities quickly to ensure that owners, educators and conservative groups can track their animals in the actual time.
“Technology plays an important role in ensuring animal welfare,” the most prominent Drush.
“Through our digital platforms, customers can monitor their shipments, receive status updates, and even track temperature conditions during transit.”
Airline’s QR LIVE product has new criteria for comprehensive vision in animal transport.
“Whether it is a racing horse that is shipped for competition, or the project that moves the endangered species, or a family that is transmitted with their pets, it all wants one thing: peace of mind. Our technique helps in providing this.”
It is also believed that automation and AI will play a larger role in the future.
“The more integrated the smart technology, the more efficient and safe animal will be. Artificial intelligence can help delay and re -preparing and improving processing processes to reduce tension on animals.”
Despite the challenges, the live transportation sector continues to grow.
Qatar Airways shipments have witnessed a high demand in multiple sectors, especially in:
Luxury pets, with more owners who choose excellent air transport for their pets.
Equestrian events, where Racehorses and Showjumbers need a specialized sponsorship of transit.
Conservation projects, where endangered species are transferred to new reserve habitats.
Livestock exports, especially for Asia and the Middle East.
Investing in the animal sector
More airlines are aware of the importance of enhancing their infrastructure and experience capabilities.
“We see a direction as airlines devote more resources to transport animals,” he says. “The demand there, and those who invest in quality services will lead the market.
“We want to be the airline that people trust with their animals,” says Druch. “We bear this responsibility seriously, and we will continue to invest in infrastructure, compliance and innovation to ensure animals get the best possible care during transportation.
“The future relates to increased transparency, best technology, improved facilities,” and concludes. “Our function is not only the transportation of animals – it is possible to move them safely and morally and at the highest level of care.”
