- Menzies Aviation has become the first international company to obtain a Ground Handling Operator Certificate from Argentina’s National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), paving the way for its entry into the country’s newly liberalized aviation market.
- This certification allows Menzies to operate at Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP) in Buenos Aires, two of the most strategic airports in Argentina. This achievement allows Menzies to support existing airline partners and expand its presence throughout Latin America.
- Following Argentina’s 2024 decision to open ground handling to international competition, Menezes plans to invest in building a highly trained local workforce, deploying modern equipment, and providing services in line with global safety and quality standards.
- The move strengthens Menzies’ presence in Latin America, where it now operates in nine countries, supports 61 airports, and employs more than 10,000 people.
Menzies Aviation, the world’s leading service partner for airports and airlines, is the first international company to be awarded Ground Handling Operator Certification by Argentina’s National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). This represents an important first step towards entering a large and dynamic market where many of Menzies’ partners operate from airlines.
ANAC certification confirms that Menzies has met all regulatory and technical requirements to operate under Argentine aviation law. The company is authorized to provide ground handling services at both Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP) in Buenos Aires. EZE is Argentina’s largest international airport, while AEP serves as the country’s busiest domestic hub – together they form the heart of Argentina’s aviation network.
Menezes’ ambition for Argentina is to operate where demand, airline presence and infrastructure require a strong international operator. Menezes has a proven track record of entering new markets with long-term investors in Latin America and Argentina representing the natural next step.
The Argentine government’s decision in 2024 to liberalize ground handling services forms part of a broader plan to modernize and open up the country’s aviation sector. As the market turns international, Menzies Aviation is poised to bring global standards, new investment and strong operational expertise to support the development of aviation services and the wider sector.
As it prepares to enter the market, Menezes is developing plans to build a large, highly trained local workforce, supported by modern equipment and guided by global best practices to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality services across major airports in Argentina.
This certification reinforces Menzies’ growing presence across Latin America, with the company now operating in nine countries, supporting 61 airports and employing more than 10,000 people across the region.
Tomeu Mas, Senior Vice President of Latin America at Menezes Aviation, said: “We are very proud to achieve ANAC certification in Argentina. This achievement lays a strong foundation for our future growth in a market with great potential. We are now focused on taking the next step towards entering Argentina and working with the aviation community to provide safe and high-quality ground handling services to airlines.”
This certification completes the final regulatory requirements prior to operational launch and enhances Menzies’ eligibility for upcoming airport tenders as Argentina opens its ground handling market to international companies.
