- BBN Airlines Thailand, the country’s first dedicated ACMI operator and part of the Avia Solutions group, has announced Vietjet Thailand as its first airline partner.
- Effective 1 December 2025, BBN will supply the Airbus A320 aircraft under a wet lease agreement to support Vietjet Thailand’s domestic flights between Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
- The partnership includes aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance, allowing Vietjet Thailand to focus on the network and customer experience.
- BBN’s entry comes amid a strong recovery in the Thai aviation and tourism sector, with rising domestic and international traffic. This collaboration offers a flexible solution to meet seasonal demand without the need for long-term investment, in line with Thailand’s growing role as a regional aviation hub.
BBN Airlines Thailand, a specialist ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) operator, and a partner of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider, has selected Vietjet Thailand as its first partner airline. BBN Thailand Airlines supports Vietjet Thailand through the ACMI partnership commencing 1 December 2025, supplying Airbus A320 aircraft for domestic services between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), Chiang Mai and Phuket.
BBN Airlines Thailand received its air operator certification in October, becoming the first ACMI-designated Thai airline. The airline operated under the name Thai SmartLynx during the development phase before beginning full services as BBN Airlines Thai.
The ACMI arrangement includes the provision of aircraft in a 180-seat economy configuration, experienced flight and cabin crew, maintenance and insurance coverage, allowing Vietjet Thailand to focus on network management and customer experience, while benefiting from BBN Airlines Thailand’s operational flexibility and reliability.
“This partnership represents a major milestone for BBN Airlines Thailand as we roll out flexible capacity solutions for Thailand and the region,” said Martinas Grigas, Chairman of BBN Airlines Thailand. “We are pleased to welcome Vietjet Thailand as our first ACMI partner and are confident that our support will align with their operational needs, especially as we enter the busy holiday season.”
To ensure a seamless experience for passengers, the services on board these charter flights will be jointly managed; A Vietjet Thailand cabin representative will be on board each flight to ensure services meet Vietjet Thailand standards while coordinating with BBN Airlines Thai crew and staff.
The timing of this partnership coincides with the strong recovery in Thailand’s aviation and tourism sectors. Recent data from Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) shows that in the first half of fiscal year 2025, more than 68 million passengers passed through its six major airports, an increase of 12% year-on-year, with domestic traffic accounting for more than 26 million passengers.
Meanwhile, international tourism is booming with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recording more than 16.7 million arrivals between January and June 2025, supported by a 7% year-on-year increase in inbound seat capacity, marking the return of Thai tourism to pre-pandemic strength.
With high demand for travel, domestic mobility and regional tourism opportunities, this ACMI partnership provides an efficient and timely solution to meet growing capacity needs without requiring airlines to commit to long-term or heavy capital investments. BBN Airlines Thailand and VietJet Thailand believe that this partnership will help provide reliable and flexible service to domestic travelers and support Thailand’s continued rise as a major aviation and tourism hub.
